Just a stone’s throw away from the rumored location of where Elijah Craig scooped his first bucket of water to begin his Bourbon empire, this local gem of the Bluegrass, nestled in the heart of Georgetown, Kentucky is anything but an average hometown hangout. Local Feed’s Executive Chef and owner, Justin Thompson, does not skip a beat when mastering the pleasures of the palate. Thompson, a Bluegrass native and master chef, studied his craft at Sullivan University in Louisville; taking his experiences over a span of 17-years, he finally decided to collect his talents to create Local Feed.

I have the pleasure of being married to an equestrian publisher, and our travels in the Kentucky region always include a Sunday brunch at Local Feed. The last time we visited we had the thrill of meeting Taylor, our friendly server, and I asked her what she loved about Local Feed. Surprisingly, she told us a special secret - she loves Local Feed because ‘she loves to support her dad!’ Yes! Taylor is the daughter of Justin Thompson, yet somewhat shy to the fact, she loves coming to Local Feed to see her family and to support them. Why not! You can be with your dad, make some money and also meet a crazy character like myself. Local Feed is truly a special place and I strongly encourage a visit. So, if you are visiting the Greater Lexington area or Georgetown specifically, or just passing through on your way to Florida, I feel it’s a stop that you won’t ever regret.
